Lighting Design & Installation

Good lighting is the cheapest renovation there is. The same kitchen reads completely differently under one ceiling fixture than it does with layered recessed, under-cabinet, and accent light — and long Sierra winters mean you live under your lighting for a big share of the year. We design and install lighting for homes and shops around Chilcoot and the Sierra Nevada region.

Recessed LED, under-cabinet task light, pendants, dimmers and scene controls — the goal is layers you can tune to the moment, not one bright switch. Ambient light for the room, task light where you work, accent light for what's worth looking at. LED has made all of it easier: less heat, less load on the circuit, and fixture lifespans measured in decades. We plan circuits and switching per the NEC, so the design on paper is the design that passes inspection.

Exterior fixtures up here have to survive snow, ice, and real temperature swings, so we spec wet-rated equipment and mount it where the shovel and the plow berm won't find it. Dark skies are part of why people live in the Sierra — downward-facing, warm-color fixtures light your steps, entries, and driveway without floodlighting the neighborhood.

Shops, barns, and detached garages are their own lighting problem: high ceilings, cold starts, and work that needs true, even light. High-output LED at the right color temperature turns a dim outbuilding into a place you can actually work in January. If the building needs new circuits or a subpanel to support it, that's a panel conversation we can fold into the same project.
